Riviera Spa Review

I’ve partnered with Riviera Spa to bring you this post. All opinions remain my own.

I had the opportunity to visit Riviera Spa for full body massage. I scheduled my appointment on a day that I had taken off from work.

If you have not been to Riviera Spa before then it can be a little tricky to find the location since you can not see the spa entrance from the street. I circled around the shopping center a couple times before I finally decided to just park to get out and look. I ended up parking in the underground garage and I was still a little lost. I walked around for a couple of minutes until I found the spa. The area is very nice and there is a cute fountain out front in the atrium area.

Once I found the spa, I was greeted by very friendly employees as soon I walked in the door. The check in process was quick and simple (I had previously filled out my waiver online to save time) and I was immediately offered a beverage – wine, champagne, or cucumber water. Although the alcoholic beverages sounded tempting I opted for water. It was very refreshing!

After the staff brought me my beverage I was taken back to waiting area until my therapist was ready. I didn’t get to stay there long since it took me longer to find the spa then I had anticipated. The spa did recommend I arrive early. The room was so relaxing and comfortable and I was the only person in there. I definitely could have stayed there longer if time has allowed.

I have had massages at other places before and most of the time the therapist will end up putting more pressure then I want due to tight muscles but sometimes I just want to be pampered and relax. My therapist put just the right amount of pressure like I had asked and my massage was very relaxing. The room lighting and music was perfect too. I also got to have a hot towel put on my back which felt amazing! The massage was just what I needed after doing back to back workouts earlier in the morning at F45 ( click HERE to sign up for a FREE class) and Mac Speed and Strength. I highly recommend this spa to anyone looking for massage, they also have a salon where they do manicures, pedicures facials, and several other services. Of course, I cant wait to go back.  This would be a perfect spot to plan a girls day out!

What are my other hobbies besides Fitness?

Besides fitness another one of my hobbies is country music concerts! This is a hobby that my daughter and I like to do together! It is a great way for us to spend time together and have FUN! This past weekend we got to attend the iheartcounty music festival in Austin. Artists that performed included: Lindsay Ell, Kane Brown, Tucker Beathard, Chris Janson, Jon Pardi, & Kip Moore. We are both big fans of Kane Brown and Jon Pardi. My daughter even got to meet and hug Jon Pardi before he got on his bus, she literally jumped out of the car and ran up to him in the park!

We got to make a fun road trip out of the festival plus we got to spend the day in Austin, met up with friends from Houston and stopped at The Magnolia in Waco on the way back to Dallas.

When I say we like to go to concerts, I don’t me we just attend them……….we LOVE to be up close to the stage dancing and singing along with the Artists. It such an awesome experience!

Front Row at iheartcountry music festival

As soon as we got back in town from Austin we headed out to the Off the Rails Festival at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. The headliners that we wanted to see were Deirks Bentley and Jason Aldean. It was such a fun weekend! I also ran into 2 of my friends at the festival that I had met online through fitness programs!

We have been to quite a few concerts this year already:

Granger Smith, Joe Nichols, Luke Bryan @Houston Rodeo, Jake Owen, The Band Perry, Cole Swindell, Rae Lynn, Dustin Lynch, Eric Paslay, Kane Brown, & Aaron Watson.

Jocelyn has gotten to meet so many artists and we have made so many awesome memories! We have about 9 more concerts lined up for this year!! I am most looking forward to seeing Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, and Dustin Lynch. (yes, we will see some artists more than once). I have so many pictures, I wish I could share them all! You can follow me on IG if you want to see more of our fun adventures…… @SNGFITNESS.

If you listen to country music, who is your favorite artist?

PS. Dancing and Boot Scootin counts as cardio! 😉

BABY & DAD WORKOUTS

I love this post (see below) from my friend Raj, he and his wife have a 3 month old baby boy, Aydin. He created a post with the cutest videos showing workouts you can do at home with your baby! Aydin is so adorable! Raj said I inspired him to write this fitness related post, his blog related to finances. I absolutely love when I am able to encourage, motivate, or inspire others to do something! Please visit his page so you can see the cute videos he made and check out his other posts!

Easy To Do Workouts with Your Baby

We just had a baby! 3 months ago to be exact! There’s nothing more I like to do these days than to spend time with him. I also love working out and breaking a good sweat! So I thought, why not combine the 2? It doesn’t require a gym membership or require time to find a sitter, and we all know what that means… it’s good on the wallet! As a result, I’ve come up with a few workouts you can do with your baby that are safe, low impact, and will get your baby involved. Here are a few of “The Basic” moves you can do in the  video below.
Leg Kicks with Arm Press

Russian Twist

Side Squat

1-Legged Weighted Squat

Regular Lunges

Lunge into Core Twist

In total, I spend about 20-30 minutes working out per session, doing about 10-20 reps, 3-5X’s. These moves will get your heart rate going and your body sweating. With the little time I have available I’m ensured that I’m making some impact on my body. Time is so important, because in any minute the baby could get frustrated and the workout is over. I also don’t like picking him up when I’m sweaty, just in order to keep him clean. But a quick wash of the hands and arms never hurts!
For those of you parents or soon to be parents, you know having a baby takes dedication and is a big commitment. The same goes for a workout regiment. They are both hard (one definitely more than the other), but the long-term results are satisfying. If you take anything away from the post, just understand that you can still stay in shape when having a new baby! It all comes down to commitment and time management.

Below is another montage of other workout moves that I love to do if I’m watching little man. Keep an eye out for another blog post discussing the breakdown of these moves. But overall, they are quick and easy moves which allow me to can keep an eye on baby. You’ll notice some of the moved mentioned above in the following video as well.
Other things I enjoy with the little man is taking him for runs on the weekend. He loves looking up at the trees, hearing the different sounds, and getting some fresh air. I also get to push 25 pounds while I’m running 2-5 miles. Win win, right! Despite my mile time going down a full minute, its awesome that I get to spend 1 on 1 time with him and promote good health and exercise habits at a young age. I know he can’t remember this, but at least I feel that he is getting used to the outdoors.

Hope you all found this helpful and feel free to drop and comments or questions below. We are happy to answer!

Girls Weekend Getaway

This weekend was nothing short of amazing. I got to spend it with my Kaia Sisters at the Deer Lake Cabins Ranch Resorts in Mount Vernon, Texas. This place was absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect spot to get away for the weekend, have some girly time, and relax.

img_2640

There are lots of free activities offered at Deer Lake such as taking a hike on the trails, lots of water activities (kayaks, paddle boats, swimming, canoes, row boats) fishing, or taking a bike out for a ride. There are also paid activities such as horse back riding, guided tours or renting an ATV. I am an early riser so of course I was always the first one to wake up so I would sneak out of the cabin and go for morning hikes. It was so peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. This is a great place for a weekend getaway with your family or friends.

We definitely made the most out of time there. We stayed active pretty much most of the time, although relaxing on the cabin porch by the lake enjoying nature was incredible too.

My favorite activities were hiking and riding in the ATV – what a FUN adventure! We had a blast! We rode around the property for a couple of hours, going up and down hills, riding through the trails including the mud, and enjoying the sites.

We may have also gotten ourselves stuck in the mud at one point during our ride but with some team work and girl power we got ourselves out out of after a few tries.

I loved spending time with these amazing women over the weekend and getting to know them more outside of the gym. I am definitely going to miss seeing them as often especially as I move on from Kaiafit to pursue other opportunities.

Is the Dad Bod in?!

Have you heard the term “dad bod”? According to the Urban Dictionary a “Dad bod” is a male body type that is best described as “softly round.” It’s built upon the theory that once a man has found a mate and fathered a child, he doesn’t need to worry about maintaining a sculpted physique.

My friend Javier has started a blog called Thedbjourney that is geared towards men! (but anyone can benefit from his posts) Javier is married with a beautiful daughter,  he works full-time, and he goes to school! I know a lot of us can relate to a busy lifestyle like this. Finding time for the gym or squeezing in a workout can be tough sometimes plus we all have different goals.

Here is why he started his blog:

“My whole concept on starting thedbjourney is to have a guys perceptive on day to day life items as well as fitness concepts and food! I love all the blogs that have succeeded so well in the Dallas greater area. The majority of them are from women who do great work on getting new and exciting information out to their readers but I couldn’t help but to feel left out sometimes with their articles as they leaned more towards their woman audience. I wish there was a blog out there that was directed to men who also have a passion on exploring their great city and all the food, events and wellness it has to offer. So that’s why I’ve decided to start thedbjourney.” – Javier
